When the system is powered off, the current date and time and recording setting are held in memory by a 3.6 volt nickel-cadmium battery located in the vault. If the system is disconnected from the battery or not operated for extended periods of time, the battery will loose its charge and is unable to supply enough voltage to hold the settings in memory.

To fully charge the internal battery connect the system to a DC power supply and leave it powered up for 24 hrs. Then perform a master reset and re-program the system.

Also after several years the internal rechargeable battery will gradually loose its capacity to hold a charge and will need to be replaced. If this happens the system must be serviced by a qualified technician.
